The IEVA Committee for 2026 is here!

The IEVA Committee for 2026 is here!

On Sunday the 19th of April we held our 2026 AGM at the Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown, and we welcomed a large crowd in-person and online to this years AGM. With an engaged group in attendance including some former committee members and it was by-far the toughest AGM we've had to date, and by that, I mean to try and keep to the 1-hour scheduled time slot! Frankly, an excellent complaint to have with an engaged crowd with lots of discussions, ideas, thoughts and feedback. I want to thank all those who attended or commented online in our stream, or have sent us emails post the AGM. We appreciate all of the input and insight. So please, keep it coming!

I want to take the time to thank the committee members who have left us for the end of the 2025 Committee term: Annette Lynch Conway, Andrine Mendez and Bogdan Duzel.

Annette served as Vice-chair on the Committee and as such, she will be badly missed from not having her as directly involved in the Association as she has been. Personally, we had a number of chats and calls to discuss what we were doing, where things were heading, and how we should be approaching things. And before there was a little thing called the Nevo EV Driving Experiences, Annette was championing EVs and getting people into vehicles at EV driving events in collaboration with Cork County council, as well as suggesting and helping steer us towards other engagment & activities over the years. While not that often seen 'front of house', she has been instrumental for a large part of where we are today!

Andrine and Bogdan both joined the committee in 2024. Andrine has helped with some of our input and view on charge sharing network with his work, helping to shape what will become the charging network into the future and providing input to what this can look like. Bogdan put his hand to work at a number of pieces of graphic design for the committee over the years. So there are a number of pieces where he improved the design for events and what is found on our page, and like all good design, you probably wouldn't have noticed!

A huge thank you to Annette, Andrine and Bogdan for your input and time to the committee over the past few years.

This years committee

As we come into the 2026 term, I think it's important to note that while a huge amount of progress has been made in the EV market from new vehicle sales, to infrastructure rollout, but we are still not in a place where this needs to be for a majority of the market to be EV. The coming number of years are still vital to keep working and moving as a committee to bring knowledge, data and guidance to everyone.

With that, for this years Committee we welcome Úna Ní Riain to the committee. Úna has had a BYD Dolphin for the past few years, and coming from a teaching background and sustainability causes we hope that she will be an excellent addition to the committee. With that, I present to you, your 2026 Committee:

Role Name
Chair Matthew Sealy
Secretary & Treasurer Thomas McGuire
Membership Officer Alan Carolan
Events Officer Derek Reilly
Without portfolio Carl Coates
Without portfolio Darby Mullen
Newly Elected Úna Ní Riain

With the election of the committee, the single Motion at the AGM was unanimously agreed upon. This is for the Association "to seek a solution for home charger installation for drivers who have on street parking only." This is something we have been working on to guide in this regard, and as outlined in the AGM, this is something we feel is close than it has been in the past with pieces of legislation (such as Private Wires) and documentation from ZEVI's EV Strategy now including these as solutions for EV charging. We aim to do what we can in relation to this.

Thank you to all who attended at the weekend, tuned in on the live stream and for those who meet us at the EV Meetup post the AGM. It was a fantastic day out and great to meet with a good crowd, the committee as a whole were delighted to see this. So thank you all! We are looking forward to the upcoming year!

- Matthew Sealy, IEVA Chairperson
