Brite Ultra (Galway) Launch

Brite Ultra (Galway) Launch

Brite Ultra is now officially live, & right now it's the largest public charging hub in the West! It's located just off the N6 at Sandy Road, Galway, in vicinity of Terryland Retail Park, Maldron Hotel, & Nox Hotel.

The hub is comprised of 3 300kW DC units, plus 2 240kW DC units - all of which are dual CCS, & a further 4 22kW AC units - all of which are dual Type 2. In all, 10 CCS & 8 Type 2 connectors are available; applied to image below that's both 240kW units in the first (top left) bay, the 300kW units in the other two (top middle, top right) bays, & all Type 2 alongside the other edges.

In a first for Ireland (but not the island), all DC charging spaces on-site are "proper" pull-through spaces, & therefore capable of accommodating any vehicle type, whether it's car, van, truck, or bus (i.e. LDV or HDV), whether it's with or without trailer (though clearly it would be preferred to use those last two spaces if you do!), & CCS cables can be reasonably extended where required.

22kW AC unit 240kW DC unit; Multiple methods of use

As you'd expect, multiple methods of use are supported:

240kW pricing 300kW & 22kW pricing

As at 06/09/2025, Brite's pricing (including connection fee) varies by unit's maximum speed & time of day, with savings potential in range of 10 - 20% if you can time your charge session accordingly. Please note that other methods of use may have other variances, e.g. preauthorsation's a much lower €10 with Charge Assist.

Lights, cameras, charging! Not charging? Get clamped or towed

While there are no canopies on-site, there are however multiple cameras & lights, while multiple signs warn of clamping / towing where a vehicle's parked but not charging - lighting present on units indicate current usage status too.

So stop by next time you're in area. Be sure to keep an eye on Infrastructure Updates for other new & upcoming charging locations from Brite & others.
