Compare home electric plans using smart meter data or estimates

Finding the best home electric plan when you've an EV, which can use a significant amount of electric compared to the home itself, can be difficult. However, by providing details of your home, charger, & car, we can help with that!

First select the Electric Plans (Electric, or Electric + Gas) you wish to see, the Meter Type currently installed, & the Standing Charge (Urban, or Rural) applicable. These all act to weed out irrelevant plans & pricing data. Finally, select whether to use Smart Meter Data, or Estimate Usage.

A significant number of additional details can be provided at this point, including for:

• Home (Electric use, Gas use, Electric export).

• Charger & Car (Home charger, Daily driving, Car efficiency, Days to plug in, Car ready by, battery size, minimum & maximum charge).

• Home Battery (Daily grid charging, Rate of charge).

We'll attempt to shift car & home battery charging to their least expensive times, & suggest charging schedules for both based on that while respecting the time you want the car ready by. Additional advanced filters are available should you wish to further restrict results, or to see details for a typical weekday or weekend.

* To retrieve your Smart Meter Data: Login to your ESB Networks Account. Select My energy consumption. Select Downloads. Download 30-minute readings in kW, OR 30-minute readings in calculated kWh. Select Choose file & select the downloaded CSV.

** Where smart meter data not used, & where otherwise not stated, Annual Home Energy use is distributed throughout the day based on the 2026 LP25 Urban Smart Load Profile.
