Brite Rapid Charge launches the first multi space rapid EV charge station in the West of Ireland at Galway Retail Park today.

Brite Rapid Charge, a Galway based private operator, founded by automotive executive Colin Barry in 2023 has begun the roll out of the most advanced Rapid EV charge network in Ireland this week.

Brite’s strategic goal is to electrify Galway City and provide much needed charging services in a
geographic location that has severely suffered from a lack of investment over the past few years. Brite’s first site at Galway Retail Park is in Ireland’s busiest retail park has tested extremely well in the past two weeks delivering the fastest speeds of any charger ever seen in the West of Ireland with 185KWH achieved on several occasions.

Colin Barry said, “I am all about coming up with innovative solutions to how we reduce our carbon emissions, specifically around transport. It is very clear that the public want and need our service. Take this great example from last week, a lady driving her EV from Shannon airport to Ashford castle visited us after 11pm and managed to bag herself a fifty percent battery charge in just over fifteen minutes and she paid the cheapest rate of any EV provider in the country at €0.41. She paid with her credit card by tapping our payment terminal, she did not need to download our Fuuse app. We are looking forward to launching our second site this summer in Galway with ten charge spaces which will make it one of the largest EV charging hubs in Ireland. And don’t forget our taxi driver friends, we are offering a 10% discount to all taxi drivers in Galway on all our tariffs.”

Attending the launch were Galway City Councillors Niall McNelis (Lab) and Clodagh Higgins (FG). A joint statement from the two GCC Councillors said, “We both support any infrastructural investments that will help Ireland achieve zero carbon transport goals. We acknowledge that Galway has lagged in providing options to EV owners to charge in public therefore with Brite’s drive to secure premium sites all over the west this is a great example of Irish private enterprise providing well needed public transport solutions and we welcome this whole heartedly. Brite’s momentum must be encouraged as we seek to reduce delays in ESB’s network role out and we specifically support Brite’s drive to open Salthill village’s first rapid charge hub at the Galway Tourist Office this year.”

In conclusion, Colin Barry said, “Brite have what can be simply called a great network. We have access to the best sites, we have the best hardware partners in Siemens and the best Hardware support team in EV Ready. Our relationship with the ESB is strong and we recognise that they are an organisation that are having to rapidly change in order to tackle the huge growth in demand for public charging. We have a great relationship with EV drivers and we welcome further Government investment in subsidies for EVs and look forward to serving our customers in the years to come”.
