ESB ecars Bunratty Castle Hotel Launch

ESB ecars latest charging hub, located at Bunratty Castle Hotel, Bunratty West, Bunratty, Co. Clare is now live. We were there for its official launch. This one's a little bit different as there's both multiple high power chargers and multiple standard chargers present on site.

High Power Chargers

The high power charging hub is located just off Bunratty Castle Hotel's main car park. This features 4 ABB Terra 360 units, each capable of up to 360kW, & providing 8 CCS connectors - these are the type of units you'll find at ESB ecars' other recent high power charging hubs, including the one nearby at Shannon Town Centre.

No canopy, though there is lighting between each of the chargers, & from the main car park.

Each of the high power units features integrated lighting. The horizontal strip along the top of the unit indicates the connector availability on that side (white in use, green available), while the strip along the sides indicates the state of charge of the vehicle connected on that side (deep blue being the state, with lighter tones what remains), or white where none. Cable lengths continue to be good, & shouldn't present any difficulty in reaching a charge port.

Standard Chargers

Located within the hotel's main car park are the standard chargers - 3 eVolve Smart units, capable of up to 22kW, & offering 6 Type 2 connectors.

With the ever popular Bunratty Castle & Folk Park located across the road, park visitors may also have the option of using these (& maybe stop by Fibber McGee's for food / drink before going).

Cost / Authentication

Several methods of use are supported:

• Contactless payment (albeit, only with the high power chargers);
• App (ecar connect), or other supported operator's;
• Card / tag (order in-app), or other supported operator's.

Pricing is as indicated below. The PAYG rate doesn't vary for contactless payment v. PAYG with app / card / tag, though there's a pre-authorisation amount of €50 with the former.
