Charging queue survey data

As part of our comprehensive response to the Dept. of Transport’s 2022-2025 EV strategy consultation phase, we ran a survey published to our members by email & social media to build some data behind the text. Our questions were as follows:

• When intercity/intertown travelling in your EV in 2022, have you had to wait to access a charger point?
• When intercity/intertown travelling in your EV in 2022, have you felt “charge anxiety”?
• When intercity/intertown travelling in 2022, what is the longest wait time you have had for a charge point to become available?
• When intercity/intertown travelling in 2022, where are the 3 top locations you have experienced queues at charge points?
• Do you agree with draft National Charging Infrastructure by DoT statement: “publicly accessible charge points will likely be adequate for the period out to 2025”?

We garnered over 350 responses in a single day, and will continue to collect responses, though the corpus of data we have now tells a clear story so we felt it fit to publish.

On the third, which was a slider to select wait times in minutes, the mean of all responses was a staggering 38 minutes.

On the fourth, relating to locations, we asked for raw input. Taking that data and using sheet formulas to count when a location is mentioned, we get to this league table, where the top has more mentions:

And finally, we asked if folks agree with the Department of Transport on their assessment that infrastructure is adequate through to 2025, and received this as a response:
